Thoughts and Updates - Janurary 2, 2009 New Elders On December 14th the congregation elected two new elders. The two new elders are Joe Britton and Joe Sage. There will be an ordination ceremony during the January 11th Service. Ladies Fellowship The next meeting will be the Tuesday the 13th at 3:30. The first and third Tuesdays of the month are the normal meeting dates and are open to all women. For more information about the group, contact Harriet Tate. Christmas Eve Candlelight Service The StBCC Candlelight Service was held on Christmas Eve at 6:30. Alan's Thoughts and Updates I praise God for what is happening here at StBCC, however as I have reviewed the statistics for 2008 I am forced to conclude that there is room for improvement. Going into the Christmas Season we were averaging 26 in the worship service. And, on Dec. 14th and we had 30 in our worship service and had children singing during the service. These are good signs. An area of concern is visitors. I believe we need to do a better job of turning visitors into members. Of the visitors in 2008 that were looking for a Church, we only retained about 10%. Some of those visitors only came once, however there were others that came back a few times before going to another church. We have to do a better job of "Strengthening the Body". I believe that we need to do a better job of demonstrating God's love. which means that we need to reach out not just on Sunday morning during our service, but all through the week in each other's homes. We just need to do a better job of communicating. In Christ Service, Alan |
